Gardeners' Digest: July Garden Girl Blog Hop (Giveaway Closed)

Welcome to the Gardeners' Digest, a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas in a Bucket. We'd love it if you'd visit each of our blogs today to see what's in bloom in the Garden this month.
Most of the layouts that I've created so far this month have been based on challenges. There's nothing like a good challenge to give you a much-needed creative push, am I right? Are you up for a technology-inspired journaling challenge?
I created some dimension on this layout by giving the kraft cardstock a boost with one of my tried-and-true adhesive favorites, American Crafts Circles Foam Tabs.  Under the die-cut letters, I placed pieces of patterned paper that I had printed over using binary numbers. The journaling itself was already done for me, care of Facebook.  I compiled a few of my status updates from the past month, printed them out on white cardstock, and added some accents to them.  The full supply list can be found at Two Peas in a Bucket, if you'd like more details.
Every week when new items appear in the Garden, I find myself "liking" (in truth, loving) and bookmarking so many projects. For instance, the moment I saw this layout by Becky Novacek, I gasped. It's just so pretty.
She has amazing skills with a camera AND with paper...and I so dig her handwriting. I think I have those very same Prima flowers, but I never thought of using them against aqua paper like that. It's such a stunning combination!
I know we've all been gaping at the new CHA releases this past week, and I'm sure that by the next Gardeners' Digest, I'll have a bunch of those products to share. In the meantime, though, I've been busying myself with some goodies from Two Peas that arrived about a week ago. Here's what I'm loving (and using!) right now:
BasicGrey Paper Cottage Printed Chipboard
BasicGrey Paper Cottage "Backgammon" Patterned Paper
BasicGrey Clippings Snippets
Studio Calico Heyday "Weather" Mistable Shapes
American Crafts for Crate Paper Lullaby Thickers

  1. Our last "mini vacay", we went to Dothan, AL and drove all over town to see the big painted peanuts all over town. They are pretty hard to find, so we had to drive around a while.

  5. We were just in Chicago for a friend's wedding in June. We only got to see the city for a day but we crammed as much in there as possible. Architecture river tour, Navy Pier, Chicago Blues Festival and our first authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. I loved that pizza so much I would consider moving there! ~ isadari

  14. What a neat idea for a layout! Let's see, most recent family vacation wasn't the whole family - just the hubby and I to Hungary and Romania to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (a year late because the little one was too little to leave last year). Never fear, the WHOLE family is going on vacation in August with my whole side of the family. Sure to wild and crazy! Thanks for the chance to win! 2peas: mprantner

  19. My husband and I seldom take vacations, but we do like to get away on shorter destinations. Our last trip away was to visit our son at university one weekend in March. We had a wonderful weekend, but had a snow forecast for the day we would be leaving for home. Thinking that it wouldn't amount to much, we started back. We were caught in a blizzard, and thought we might be stranded on the highway at one point. Fortunately, that didn't happen but a normally 6 hour trip took us 11 hours!! my pea name is paperpodner

  20. I have to resort to last year when we took the grandkids to Silver Dollar City. There were many memories made with the kids from train ride to roller coaster rides. It was the hottest day of the year so we were thankful for water rides.

  24. My latest vacation was to northern Michigan where I was able to spend two whole weeks with my sister and three year old nephew. They surprised me with little gifts and my favorite foods, and then took me on special ice cream, beach and dinner excursions. This was the first time I have ever been able to just relax and spend any real amount of time with them and I wouldn't trade the experience for the world! Thanks for letting me share. :)

  45. Don't have any fun facts but a sad fact which I have to admit after our last trip to Utah visiting the different canyons in May. I'm seriously unfit. Had to skip quite a few of the attractions within the different parks as I couldn't go on anymore. And I didn't even have any energy to take photos.

I hope to visit again and go to the spots where we missed the next time but I've got to work on myself first.

Love the topic of your LO. Thanks for the giveaway.

  46. Funny fact not easy... When I was younger I went to a summer camp in Italy for a week and it was a disaster !! When I think about it today it always make me laugh!!
In Florence, 3 persons from the groups got lost because they stayed on the bus, the same day (after finding the 3 lost people) we heading towards the hostelwhen one of the accompanying adult forgot his bag in the restaurant with ALL our passport in it... From Florence to Venice in the train we got attacked by an Italian mama. Then Venice was flooded, and a girl won a trip to the hospital for nothing... and so on. It was only a week but full of surprises !

I love making LO for a challenge, like you said it boost my creativity so much more ! I love your last LO. I also really like the mistables and thickers alphas !
    thanks for the giveaway !
