Lexi Bridges joined me in creating a few layouts using the kit for today's "Monthly Kit Spotlight." The colors in this kit are perfect for scrapping summer photos.
When my daughter went to Chicago on a school trip this summer, she asked if I wanted her to bring me back anything, and I made one request (since deep dish pizza wasn't an option): PHOTOS! Lots of 'em. The Best Daughter in the World not only took tons of photos (and handed off the camera so that she could be in some), but she also saved ticket stubs and other ephemera from her trip. Her scrappy mama trained her well.
I can't think of a better background to have used for this layout than the October Afternoon Woodland Park "Blue Sky" paper. I kept with the sky motif by misting and layering frames as well as the title.
doily punch to create additional accents as well as to give the background floral paper (OA's "Gooseberry Falls") kind of a lace tablecloth feel.
Mister Huey's Color Mists also make an appearance on this page. I used Boss Lady to lightly tint the tag before I printed on it, and I went to town with Boss Lady, Sherbet Orange, and Buttercup to create an "ombre" look for the title:
So...what do you think of "Summer of '69" (the kit or the song or both)? Let me know in a comment to this post, and you may be the winner of a $10 gift certificate to Studio Calico, care of the generous folks there. I'll select a winner on Monday after 6 p.m. Hawaii time.
Thanks for visiting today!
