Scrapidées and a Seven-Photo Sketch

This past week I had the pleasure of joining the Scrapidées team as we each shared our take on Sketch 309, which I designed to include up to seven photos.
My take on the sketch involved a farewell to a season that I love when it is here and miss dearly when it is not here: summer.
The layout description shared on the blog is in French, so here is the English version, in case you're interested (and don't speak French):
The sketch calls for seven photos (although that number can be adjusted to include blocks of patterns and accents, not just photos), and I compiled seven (1.75" x 1.75") photos that highlight some of our most memorable summer moments (good and not-so-good, like cleaning the yard -- the grass grows so quickly in the summer!). The background paper from Studio Calico had such a summer feel, so I used it as the foundation for the layout, and embellished it a bit by adding some misting and a few additional patterns.
Supplies: papers (Studio Calico, My Mind's Eye, Jenni Bowlin Studio, 7Gypsies, Amy Tangerine, BasicGrey, Farmhouse Paper Company, Daisy D's); vellum (Paper Accents); metal badges (October Afternoon); metal stars (Two Peas in a Bucket); letters (American Crafts); washi tape (Freckled Fawn); paint (Jenni Bowlin Studio); mist (Studio Calico, Heidi Swapp); mask (Studio Calico); pen (Uni-ball); stamps (October Afternoon, Hero Arts); ink (Tsukineko)
Be sure to check out the original post on the Scrapidées blog, which features a variety of layouts based on this sketch.  I'd like to thank Paloma and the rest of the team for inviting me to be a guest!

New October Afternoon!

I came home today to discover that the new October Afternoon collection, Silent Night, is in stock at Two Peas!
It may still be October, but this makes me look forward to scrapbooking Christmas photos already!

Gardeners' Digest: October Garden Girl Blog Hop

Welcome to the Gardeners' Digest, a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas in a Bucket. We'd love it if you'd "hop" by each of our blogs today to see what's in bloom in the Garden this month.  If you've been following the hop so far, you were just visiting Paige's blog.
Here's a peek from my upcoming Scrap Your Stash video, in which I focus on putting accents such as a stickers, buttons, and die-cuts to good use.
I love this kitty cat die-cut from the Dear Lizzy Polka Party die-cut shapes pack.  This isn't actually a pet-themed layout, however.  If you hold on for a few days, you'll see the full reveal at Two Peas.

This month I have been on the lookout for 8.5" x 11" layouts in the gallery. Although I mainly scrap 12" x 12" layouts, I do switch it up from time to time.  The inspiration from the peas below serves as a reminder of why the shift from a square to a rectangle can be so worth it:
"Christmas Morning 2012" by Midwesterngirl
"You Are Here" by GinnyHughes
"Sweet Memories" by ADogsLife13
Studio Calico Thataway Kraft and Vellum Envelopes. These are nice and large. I've been disappointed at times when I have purchased envelopes, only to discover that they are teensy tiny itty bitty little things. Not so with these!
I am crazy about the B-side of this Crate Paper "Bundled Up" patterned paper. The A-side perpetuates the snow bias that tends to emerge at this time of year in the paper industry (aww, just think of those poor Hawaii folk having to rough it through a sunny winter), but the B-side makes this a must-have for me.
I know that I should be focusing on Halloween at the moment (and really, I am!), but I am also thinking ahead to my holiday album. These Webster's Pages tree and reindeer clips are definitely on my wish list this year.
Holiday album aside, I really am in Halloween mode these days. Granted, I have no costume yet, but at least I know what my Halloween pages will be wearing -- these seasonal flair from Two Peas in a Bucket. Super cute!
My most recent order from Two Peas included these Hipster wood veneer tiles, each of which speaks to what's been going on in my life lately (emphasis on the coffee cup). I can't wait to use these on a layout one of these days!

To thank you for visiting today, I'd love to offer you a chance to win a $10 Two Peas in a Bucket gift certificate. Just leave a comment on this post (including your Two Peas username) before 6:00 p.m. Hawaii time on Monday, October 28, and I will select one lucky winner.

The next stop on the blog hop is the lovely and talented Jen Kinkade, or if you'd like to start at the beginning of the hop, you can head to the Two Peas in a Bucket blog.  Thanks for hopping by today!

Whew.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks!  I just returned home after chaperoning a college tour to the Pacific Northwest.  It was a wonderful experience, although the transition from 36-degree temperatures to the usual humid Hawaii weather has been somewhat difficult.  I miss the cool weather.

Did I just say that?

While I was gone, the mid-month gallery was updated at JBS Mercantile.  I added a few more October kit layouts, including a Halloween-themed layout about my daughter's Shaun of the Dead tribute last year... Antiquarian kit layout about one of the loveliest songs ever written...
...and a shout-out to my daughter's new toy.
I had so much fun working with this month's kits! I can't wait to see what's in store for November.

It's World Cardmaking Day!

It's World Cardmaking Day, which means that everyone in the world is required to create at least one card today.  I think that's how it works.

I buckled under the pressure to create a card like a piece of paper under a bone folder.  I'm not really card-savvy, like some people are (ahem, Laura and Danielle), but I didn't want to be a party pooper.  So as I made up my mind to create a card,  I told myself to just relax and have fun, which actually turned out to be possible! It helped that I was working with products that I love from Jenni Bowlin Studio.
I ended up having so much fun with the first one that I created another!  I used only scraps of paper on this one.
Have you created a card today? If not, go do your global duty.  The world is waiting on you.  (No pressure!)

It's All About Me (No, Really!)

Today marks the reveal of the October Garden theme at Two Peas in a Bucket --  it's "All About Me," with a focus on self-portrait layouts. Here's my take on the theme:
A self-portrait page is so much more than the photo on it. The journaling makes all the difference. On this layout, the journaling explores my outlook. I've always found the question, "Are you an optimist or a pessimist?" tough to answer, but the journaling here is my attempt to do so.
More details and a full supply list may be found at Two Peas in a Bucket.

Be sure to check out the Two Peas store today as well, since there are new cut files (including a Halloween-themed freebie),
new exclusive flair buttons,
and new printables (which I'm excited about using in my October Scrap Your Stash video).
Thanks for stopping by today!
