Take Heart

My daughter leaves tomorrow to study abroad in Europe for a semester. She's a brave one.
In layouts (like the one above), I've often reflected on how awed I am by her, and how, despite how scary letting go can be, I know that she needs to be out in the world, because the world needs people like her.
"The world isn't always kind, but if you approach it with kindness, you will change that world. You came into my life, a gift, and in turn, I did my best to raise you to be a gift to the world.
So take heart, my love, knowing that you've already transformed one life.
And take heart, my girl, as you live your own life in such a way that it transforms you..."

  1. She is going to have an amazing time. Think of the wonderful memories she will make and the photos she will take!

    1. YES -- the photos! She asked what I wanted from Italy, and I said, "Just photos. LOTS of photos." If gelato could endure the flight, I'd ask for that, too. :)

  2. OMGosh!! Best of luck to her on her studies and travels and also to you!! "I know that she needs to be out in the world, because the world needs people like her." I am going to write that down so I can remember that in 4 short years, for myself!

    1. You're so right about those years being short, Lor -- everyone tells you this when your children are little, but the truth of it doesn't set in until they're grown.
